Using Query Parameters to Automate Opt Out Requests
You can help automate fulfillment of GDPR/CCPA rights of data deletion and opt out requests by capturing identifiers and passing them to your downstream systems. While these identifiers might be unknown to the individual submitting the request, such as a cookie ID, these can be collected with help by OneTrust to orchestrate the data deletion or opt out.
When integrating a OneTrust web form onto your website, you can have the browser collect and pass the identifier as a query parameter on the web form. You’ll also need to set up integration workflow(s) and associated system subtask(s) that include the identifier so OneTrust can automatically launch the opt out or deletion process to your downstream systems. The captured identifier will be available in the event data which will be passed to the downstream system in order to complete said requests.
In the OneTrust application, you can view which identifiers were collected in the Request Details screen.
