Tracking Opt-Out Sources with Query Parameters

Using Universal Consent & Preference Management, you can leverage a query parameter to track the sources of your user opt-outs.

This feature helps you associate changes in a user's consent to the collection point the user opted out of, particularly when these opt-outs stem from marketing campaigns.

To add the query parameter

  1. Retrieve a URL for the collection point you want to track opt-outs for. You can track opt-outs for the following collection point types:
  2. Add a the ?ot_source= query parameter to the end of the URL.
  3. Enter a unique name for the collection point. This name will appear as the Source of the opt-out.

    Example: ?ot_source=EmailCampaign2026

  4. Add the collection point link to any assets from which you offer consent configuration (footer of a website, bottom of an email, etc.).

When users click the link with the query parameter present, a Source attribute will populate in the following places, allowing you to track the source of the user's opt-out:

  • The consent receipt

  • The relevant purpose within the data subject's profile

  • In integration events

  • On bulk export files
