Linking Personal Data to Inventory Records
You can create links between personal data and your organization's inventory records. This allows you to include the individual elements of data that your organization is collecting or processing in your data mapping landscape.
You can create these links manually in an inventory record, through assessment responses, or via bulk imports. For more information, see Adding, Editing, Reordering, and Deleting Questions and Bulk Linking Personal Data to Inventory Records.

Considerations before unlinking personal data:
-
Consider creating and exporting a report before unlinking personal data to retain a historical record of where the personal data was previously linked.
-
Unlinking personal data removes it from the inventory record's Related Data Elements widget on the Inventory Details tab and in the Personal Data tab.
-
You will not be able to see unlinked personal data in future reports based on the inventory record.
-
If an assessment attached the personal data to the inventory record, the personal data question on the assessment retains the historical record even after the personal data is unlinked.
-
If a user manually attached the personal data to the inventory record, you will lose any historical record of the personal data on the inventory record once it is unlinked.
-
The process below only applies to data subject types and data elements.
