In Data Catalog, you can use the Bulk Update Data Assets import template to update information on multiple data assets at once, including data asset details, names of terms, and names of classification tags.

    The Data Dictionary screen appears.

  2. Select the name of a data source from the list.

The Data Asset Details screen appears.

  3. Go to the Child Objects tab.
A list of child objects appears.
  4. Click the Export button.
An Export Child Objects modal appears.
  5. Click the Close button on the modal.
  6. Click the task notification icon.

    Note:

The export will download as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

To Update Data Assets in Bulk

When bulk updating data assets, it is recommended that you copy and paste the data from an exported data asset report into the update template spreadsheet. To learn more about exporting data asset information, see Configuring Data Assets.

  1. On the Global Settings menu, select Import Templates from the Data Import section.

    The Import Templates gallery appears.

  2. Click the Download button on the Bulk Update Data Assets template. A template spreadsheet file will download to your device.
  3. Open the Bulk Update Data Assets spreadsheet file.
  4. Configure the fields. For more info, see Bulk Update Data Assets Template.
    Note:

For columns that feature only a few specific updates, take an export of your existing data assets and fill in cells that do not currently require an update. If there are columns that feature no new updates, delete them from the import template. If you upload a template with blank cells, the information will overwrite in your Data Dictionary as blank.

    Important:

Refer to the Options sheet in the Excel export for names of available terms and classification tags.

  5. On the Global Settings menu, select Bulk Import from the Data Import section.

    The Bulk Import screen appears.

  6. Click the New Import button. A New Import modal appears.
  7. Complete the fields. For more info, see New Import Modal Reference.
