Setting Up Topics

CAUTION:

As of OneTrust 6.25, the Topics feature will no longer be available for new accounts. OneTrust will be deprecating Topics for existing accounts in a future release and recommends the use of Purpose Preferences moving forward. Any existing Topics will be migrated to Purpose Preferences to minimize service disturbances to existing accounts and affected customers will be notified prior to the update.

For more information regarding Purpose Preferences, see Adding and Editing Purpose Preferences.

You can add Topics to Purposes to allow for data subjects to express granular consent preferences in relation to one Purpose of processing. For example, within a single Purpose, such as email marketing, the data subject could consent to certain Topics or kinds of email marketing and not consent to others.

Once you have set up your Topics, you will need to associate them with Purposes that will be used to set up Collection Points and Preference Centers. An important characteristic for Topics is that when a data subject submits consent for a Topic via a Collection Point and that Topic is associated with a Purpose for which Topic selections have already been made, the additional Topics will be added to the existing Topic selections.

Note:

For more information about setting up purposes, see Setting Up Purposes of Processing.
