Viewing the Do Not Call Status on Data Subjects Records

With the introduction of the Do Not Call status feature, OneTrust customers can now know if a data subject's phone number is listed on the Federal Trade Commissions (FTC's) Do Not Call (DNC) list. If a data subject's phone number is listed, you can now exclude that number from any further communication.

Do Not Call Overview

Important:

The Phone Number Data Element type must be used for this feature to function properly. Phone numbers can be used as either a data subject data element or an identifier.

On a nightly basis, OneTrust downloads the file of all US numbers from the FTC’s database, which is updated daily on their end. This update ensures that when a phone number is entered into a OneTrust environment, it is validated against the FTC list and if the number is present, there is a flag that is displayed beside the phone number along with a tool tip describing that the number is present in on the DNC list.

Customers can also directly use the API to test against any phone numbers they have. For more API information, see the /v2/datasubjects API Reference.

To view the Do Not Call status of a data subject

  1. On the Universal Consent & Preference Management menu, select Data Subjects > Profiles. The Data Subjects screen appears.

  2. Select a data subject with a phone number identifier or phone number data element. The Data Subject Details screen appears.

  3. If the Do Not Call flag appears next to the identifier on the Data Subject Details screen, that data subject is on the FTC's Do Not Call list. In addition, any mobile or phone number data elements attached to the data subject that have the Do Not Call flag next to them are also on the list.
