Overriding Data Subject Consent Using Hard Opt-Out
You can prevent the processing of a data subject’s consent by using the Hard Opt-Out setting. Using Hard Opt-Out for a data subject overrides any consent given by the data subject for one or more purposes to Hard-Opted Out status. Setting this status for a data subject may be necessary to comply with legal or contractual obligations, such as meeting requirements to protect vulnerable individuals or preventing the processing of personal data for marketing age gated products and services.
Once a data subject's consent status for a purpose is set to Hard Opted-Out and the data subject tries to give consent to the purpose, a transaction will be created to record that they tried to give consent, but the status of the purpose will remain Hard Opted-Out.
To enable the Hard Opt-Out setting
You must first enable the Enable Hard Opt-Out of Purposes setting within Global Settings in order to hard opt-out of purposes on behalf of a data subject.

To manage hard opt-out for all purposes
If a Hard Opt-Out has been performed for all purposes on behalf of a data subject, you can access the Manage Hard Opt-Out modal to change the status of all the purposes to Withdrawn at one time. Changing the status back to Withdrawn will allow the data subject to be opted-in to the purposes again.
The Manage Hard Opt-Out button only appears if the data subject has been opted-out of all purposes of processing.
To configure hard opt-out display options for Trust Centers
Purposes with hard opt-out statuses can be locked or hidden from view.
These settings apply to the Trust Center only, for the selected purpose only. The preference center options can be configured in the Branding tab
