Configuring App Tracking Transparency Prompts for Mobile Apps
OneTrust Mobile Prompts allow organizations to display a prompt to a user either before or after an iOS Permission dialogue is displayed in accordance with the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. Market research shows that a Pre-Prompt designed to educate users prior to collecting iOS permissions leads to better opt-in results. Being transparent with users for the purposes you are collecting an iOS permission is a great way to build trust and brand credibility.

App Tracking Transparency Prompts
OneTrust offers the following two types of prompt options for ATT purposes, which can be configured within the application:
- Pre-Prompts
-
A Pre-Prompt is a notice to the user, presented before an iOS Permission dialogue has been shown or requested, intended to educate the user on the reasons for which the app is going to process their personal data. OneTrust allows organizations to customize the messaging, translations, and branding of this Pre-Prompt. If a user wishes to continue, the OneTrust Pre-Prompt will display the iOS permission dialogue to the user and their Yes/No selection for Allow Tracking will be logged in OneTrust for audit and reporting requirements.
- Settings Prompts
-
A Settings Prompt is intended to educate and deep-link a user who has already Accepted/Rejected an iOS permission dialogue to the App's iOS settings for ATT. Once a user has made their selection with iOS, there is no way for the OneTrust SDK to update this consent setting on behalf of the user. They must update it themselves in iOS settings. Therefore, a Post-Prompt should be only used if a user has opted out of an iOS Permission, but now they wish to access part of the app that requires the iOS Permission to be toggled back On. Once a user updates their preference in iOS settings, the OneTrust SDK will check and log consent of the change to OneTrust for audit and reporting requirements.
