Managing Categories with Bundle Groups

Using Cookie Consent, you can create groups of cookie categories under a bundle group header. You can use a bundle group to associate categories to each other. For example, when complying with CCPA, you may bundle all categories that use personal data into a CCPA group.

A bundle group will be given an ID within OnetrustActiveGroups (example: BG001). When a user opts into the bundle group, the ID will exist in OnetrustActiveGroups. When a user opts out, the ID will not be within the variable.

In order to configure cookie categories, the one of the following permissions should be enabled for each user. To allow cookie category updates, use the CookieV2CatsCRUD permission. To prevent category updates and allow only bundle group configuration, use the CookieV2CatsReadOnly permission. These permissions are available in system default roles or can be added to a custom role.

Use Case: Managing Categories by Organization

If your organization contains more than one brand or subsidiary, you may need to maintain different cookie categories. In Cookie Consent, you can leverage bundle groups to streamline cookie categorization and override cookie categories without having to make updates to categories or cookies themselves.

Cookie categories are managed at the root organization, including the category name and description. Your sub-organizations can access these categories and assign cookies, which are found on the sites each organization scans, to the corresponding category.

If a sub-organization would instead like a category to appear differently within their Preference Center, simply access the template and follow the steps below to set up a bundle group. Using a bundle group, you can hide the original cookie category and description and instead provide alternate content at the template level. This allows your brands to maintain consistent categorizations while having flexibility at the template level to control the look and feel of your categories.
