Managing and Viewing Translated Cookie Descriptions

In Cookie Consent, you can configure which languages are available for cookie descriptions, add custom descriptions and their translations, and display default and third-party descriptions from Cookiepedia. For more information on managing template languages, see Customizing the Banner Template.

Leveraging the Enable Cookiepedia Translations setting streamlines localization and allows for greater control and accuracy when configuring cookies across multiple languages. Disabling the setting allows you to display your custom, English-language descriptions in any enabled languages without custom translations without overriding each translated value manually. Enabling the setting allows you to display translated descriptions that are imported from Cookiepedia for any cookies without custom translations that correspond to an original description.

Enable Cookiepedia Translations Setting

When the Enable Cookiepedia Translations setting is enabled, the default and third-party description fields for cookies without custom descriptions will display the Cookiepedia description in the language you select from the Language selection menu. Cookiepedia descriptions can be edited, but any edits you make are permanent. Edits made to a Cookiepedia description in one language will not affect the description in other languages.

When the Enable Cookiepedia Translations setting is disabled, default and third-party descriptions will appear blank unless a custom description is provided. You can add custom translated descriptions for each applicable language manually.

Note:

When present, custom cookie descriptions will display in place of Cookiepedia descriptions, regardless of setting configuration.
