Sandbox & UAT Differences

You can use sandbox accounts and UAT accounts for testing purposes; however, the type of account most beneficial to your organization may vary based on your use case. The following sections provide information on each type and their differences to help your organization determine which testing account is best suited for your needs.

What are Sandbox Accounts?

Sandbox accounts are non-production accounts in the same environment as the production account with restricted use limits. Sandbox accounts can be created to test system updates that are upcoming in the OneTrust application before they are made live across all environments. Since sandbox accounts have a restricted use limit compared to production, they are ideal for configuration testing, which allows you to test new code changes without affecting any data in production.

Customers that meet the minimum net spend threshold are entitled to one sandbox that is included as part of their subscription. Customers below that minimum threshold or those that meet the minimum threshold but need more than one sandbox have the option to purchase. For more information, please contact your OneTrust Account Representative.

What are UAT Accounts?

UAT accounts are non-production accounts in a different environment than the production account with the same use limits as production. UAT accounts can be used to test large volumes of data or transactions to evaluate how the system behaves under an expected load. Since UAT accounts have the same use limit as production, they are ideal for load and bulk testing, which is crucial for ensuring the performance and reliability of the platform, especially under heavy usage or data processing demands.
