Extending Requests

If you set up a default deadline or time limit for requests on your web form, you can extend the time limit on a specific request to accommodate circumstances for the request fulfillment process.

To extend a request

  1. On the Privacy Rights Automation screen, click Requests. The Requests screen appears.

  2. Hover over the row for the request you want to extend until the Context Menu icon appears.
  3. Click the Context Menu icon. The Context menu appears.

  4. Select Extend Deadline. The Extend Requests modal appears.

  5. Enter the number of days by which you would like to extend the request.

Enter a message to the data subject or select a response template from the Select Response(s) field. This message will be sent in the Privacy Portal and an email notification will be sent to the data subject with a direct link to the portal.

  6. Click the Send button.
Tip:

If you extend a request in error, you can assign the request to different workflow configured with the Allow request deadline to be edited at this stage. This enables you to edit the Deadline field in the Request Details to revert your extension.

For more information, see Customizing a Workflow and Changing the Workflow of a Request.

Extending Request Deadline by Jurisdiction

You can extend a request deadline to accommodate circumstances around request fulfillment, however, requests cannot be extended past the legal deadline as stated by the respective privacy law. This feature considers the submitted value for the Country field to calculate the maximum extension allowed. It is also compatible with the custom deadline calculation feature. No maximum extension will be enforced for any state or country which is not listed in the jurisdictions below.

This functionality will also work for requests created via API, but not for requests updated via API (e.g. updating country using the update custom fields API will not display changes). If you need to update the country field, simply edit the request details. The days allowed will dynamically update if the jurisdiction is changed based on the new country field value.

Note:

Maximum extension does not apply to bulk extend.
