Configuring Options for an Attribute

You can add, edit, and deactivate the attribute value options of single-select and multi-select inventory attributes.

Note:

Default attributes that populate value options are a derivative of country or user lists and cannot be edited.

To add an attribute value option

  1. On the Data Mapping Automation menu, select Inventory Manager under Setup. The Inventory Manager screen appears.

  2. Click the View button of the tile for the inventory type to which you want to add attribute value options. The corresponding Attributes screen appears.

  3. Click the key of a custom attribute to which you want to add value options. The Attribute Details screen appears.

  4. Click the Add Options button. The Add Options modal appears.


  5. Enter the name of the option you want to add along with any optional hints.
    Note:

    Option hints only display on the assessments to guide respondents and do not display in the Inventory Details screen.

  6. Click the Add button.
  7. Repeat this process as needed for any additional options.
  8. Click the Save Attribute button.

To edit an attribute value option

  1. On the Data Mapping Automation menu, select Inventory Manager under Setup. The Inventory Manager screen appears.

  2. Click the View button of the tile for the inventory type to which you want to edit attribute value options. The corresponding Attributes screen appears.

  3. Select the Key of the attribute for which you want to edit options. The Attribute Details screen appears.

  4. Go to the Options tab.
  5. Hover over the row of the attribute value option you want to edit until the Context Menu icon appears.
  6. Click the Context Menu icon.
  7. On the Context menu, select Edit option value. The Manage Option modal appears.


  8. Update the fields as needed.
  9. Click the Save option value button.

To localize an attribute value option

You can localize or translate the names of your attribute value options into any of OneTrust's supported languages. These translated values will appear in assessments, reports, and inventories. 

  1. On the Data Mapping Automation menu, select Inventory Manager under Setup. The Inventory Manager screen appears.

  2. Click the View button of the tile for the inventory type to which you want to localize attribute value options. The corresponding Attributes screen appears.

  3. Select the Key of the attribute for which you want to localize options. The Attribute Details screen appears.

  4. Go to the Options tab.
  5. Hover over the row of the attribute value option you want to localize until the Context Menu icon appears.
  6. Click the Context Menu icon.
  7. On the Context menu, select Translate Option. The Update Term modal appears.


  8. Enter the translated value of the option for each supported language.
    Note:

    OneTrust provides default translated values for the default attribute value options in the application. You can edit these as needed to meet your organization's specific needs.

  9. Click the Save button.

To deactivate an attribute value option

  1. On the Data Mapping Automation menu, select Inventory Manager under Setup. The Inventory Manager screen appears.

  2. Click the View button of the tile for the inventory type to which you want to deactivate attribute value options. The corresponding Attributes screen appears.

  3. Select the Key of the attribute for which you want to deactivate options. The Attribute Details screen appears.

  4. Go to the Options tab.
  5. Hover over the attribute value option you want to deactivate until the Context Menu icon appears.
  6. Click the Context Menu icon.
  7. On the Context menu, select Deactivate Option. A confirmation modal appears.
  8. Click the Deactivate Option button.

To reorder attribute value options

  1. On the Data Mapping Automation menu, select Inventory Manager under Setup. The Inventory Manager screen appears.

  2. Click the View button of the tile for the inventory type for which you want to reorder attribute value options. The corresponding Attributes screen appears.

  3. Select the Key of an attribute for which you want to reorder value options. The Attribute Details screen appears.

  4. Go to the Options tab. A list of active value options appears.
    Note:

    Value options appear in alphabetical order by default.

  5. Click the Reorder Options button. The Reorder Options screen appears.

  6. Enable the Customize Option Order setting.
  7. Select checkboxes next to value options you want to reorder.
  8. Configure your value options. For more info, see Reorder Attribute Options Screen Reference.
  9. Click the Save button.

Search

Search for an existing option by entering an option name.

Click and drag to manually reorder the option.

Click to move selections to the top.

Click to move selections up.

Click to move selections down.

Click to move selections to the bottom.

Click to cancel.

To export attribute value options

  1. On the Data Mapping Automation menu, select Inventory Manager under Setup. The Inventory Manager screen appears.

  2. Click the View button of the tile for the inventory type to which you want to export attribute value options. The corresponding Attributes screen appears.

  3. Click the Export button. The Export Attributes modal appears.

  4. Click the Export button. A notification will appear when your attributes export is ready for download.
  5. Click the Alert Center icon . The Notifications popover appears.

  6. Select your attribute export to download the file to your device.
  7. Review the Active Options and Inactive Options columns within your export.
    Tip:

    Once downloaded, you can use the Convert Text to Columns function in Excel to separate the options.
