Trust Center FAQ

The following responses are supported solutions to frequently asked questions (FAQ) on the Trust Center. The OneTrust team continuously monitors these inquiries and will make additional FAQ available as they are identified.

Why should I consider using the Trust Center?

Trust Center aims to serve as the central, user-facing interface through which individuals can understand, manage, and exercise control over their personal data. In an increasingly complex digital landscape, where transparency and user empowerment are critical, Trust Center is designed to bridge the gap between businesses and their consumers by offering a clear, accessible, and trustworthy experience.

Who is the customer?

The Trust Center is a platform-wide portal that is directed towards our customers' customers, letting them build content similarly to a CMS.

Can I benefit from Trust Center across all my OneTrust products?

No. Currently, Trust Center is available for Privacy Rights Automation (DSAR) and Universal Consent & Preference Management (UCPM) products. However, we plan to expand support to additional product-specific portal experiences in the future.

What is the customer problem or opportunity?

Customers want to integrate the preferences portal seamlessly into their customer journey to avoid configuring disjointed experiences for each product. Limited customization options (due to technical constraints like magic link access and iFrame embedding in the current preference center interface) prevent them from fully reflecting their brand and design, delivering an engaging, attractive end-user experience.

What is the most important benefit to the customer?

Customers will stop worrying about what product is what and focus on putting all their OneTrust consumer-content in a more easily integratable and customizable portal.

Will the Trust Center replace the CMP?

No, the CMP is very much different and needed, for small consent for tracking, on websites and mobile apps. CMP purposes are compatible with Trust Center, provided the customer uses cross-device consent.

Will the Trust Center replace the preference center?

Yes, this will take place fully one day but it will happen progressively to ensure that it aligns with the consent preference center functionality. This transition will be carried out carefully to integrate smoothly into the new platform-wide context.

Why is custom CSS not available in the Trust Center? Will it ever be supported?

Custom CSS can make it difficult for us to evolve the portal experience over time as any updates we introduce could unintentionally break your customizations. Our goal with Trust Center is to offer a solution that is both easy to configure and flexible enough to meet your branding needs, so we are continuously adding more built-in branding controls. If there is a specific customization you are missing, we would love to hear about it. Please submit an idea in the Trust Center category so we can better understand your needs and consider it for future updates.

When the preference center is discontinued and migrated to the Trust Center, will the settings from the previous preference center be carried over?

Migration is not automatic. Users need to copy the preference center as outlined here to transfer as much of the configuration as possible. Once ready, they can redirect all traffic from the preference center to the Trust Center.

If a preference center migration is not completed, will users need to manually configure the Trust Center?

Yes. Some fine-tuning will be required because the Trust Center does not offer one-to-one functionality parity.

Is it necessary to republish the script in order to make the Trust Center public?

No scripts are involved. The preference center and Trust Center use URLs.

Will updating to the Trust Center affect the Cookie Consent product?

No, the update does not affect Cookie Consent.

Is the Trust Center only for the Universal Consent & Preference Management?

The update applies to both Universal Consent & Preference Management and Privacy Rights Automation (DSAR).
