Object Links in Table Visuals

You can add links within Table visuals by simply adding the object URL metadata as a column in the table configuration. You can then format the link to appear either as the full URL or as a Link icon.

  1. On the Reports menu, select Dashboards. The Dashboards screen appears.

  2. Click the link in the Name column for the custom dashboard you want to build.

  3. Click the Context Menu icon and select Edit Dashboard. The Filters, Visualizations, and Data panes appear.

  4. On the Visualizations pane, select the Table visualization type.

  5. On the Data pane, select the object metadata that you want to include in the visual. The data added to the Columns section of the Visualizations pane will then appear as columns on the table.

For this example, we will add Assessment ID, Assessment Name, Assessment URL, and other metadata to the Columns section on the Visualizations pane. By adding the Assessment URL as a column, links will be added for each assessment in the table, which users can click to navigate to the corresponding record.

  6. (Optional) If you would like to format the URL as a Link icon instead of the full URL, select the Format your visual icon on the Visualizations pane. In the Format visual section that appears, expand the URL icon folder and turn on the Values setting. The URLs in your table will now appear as Link icons.

  7. Click the Save button.

You can add links to existing ID and Name columns within your Table visuals, if needed.

  1. On the Reports menu, select Dashboards. The Dashboards screen appears.

  2. Click the link in the Name column for the custom dashboard you want to build.

  3. Click the Edit button.

  6. In the Columns section, click the arrow corresponding to the ID or Name metadata for which you want to add a link.

For this example, we will add a link to Assessment ID.

  7. On the menu that appears, select Conditional Formatting > Web URL. The Web URL modal appears, where you will configure the link redirection.

Object Links in Matrix Visuals

You can add links within Matrix visuals for Inventory and Risk tables with custom attributes by simply adding the object URL metadata as a column in the matrix configuration. You can then format the link to appear either as the full URL or as a Link icon.

Note:

Links for existing ID and Name columns cannot currently be configured within Matrix visuals.

To add Object URLs to Matrix Visuals

  1. On the Reports menu, select Dashboards. The Dashboards screen appears.

  2. Click the link in the Name column for the custom dashboard you want to build.

  3. Click the Context Menu icon and select Edit Dashboard. The Filters, Visualizations, and Data panes appear.

  4. On the Visualizations pane, select the Matrix visualization type.

  5. On the Data pane, select the object metadata that you want to include in the visual.

For this example, we will use the Inventory Attribute Value Tabular table and add the following data to the Visualizations pane.

    • Rows section: Inventory ID, Inventory Name, and Inventory URL

    • Columns section: Attribute Name

    • Values section: List of all values

  6. After the Matrix visualization populates, right-click the + next to a row under the Inventory ID column. On the menu that appears, select Expand > All. The data added to the Rows section on the Visualizations pane will then expand into layered rows in the visual.

  7. On the Visualizations pane, select the Format your visual icon and expand the Row Headers folder In the Format visual section that appears. Then turn off +/- icons and Options > Stepped layout. The layered rows will then be separated into columns in the visual, which will expose Inventory URLs that users can click to navigate to the corresponding record.

  8. (Optional) If you would like to format the URL as a Link icon instead of the full URL, expand the URL icon folder in the Format visual section on the Visualizations pane and turn on the Row headers setting. The URLs in your matrix will now appear as Link icons.

  9. Click the Save button.
