Redacting Payloads from Detailed Workflow Logs

You can add can the new Integration Enable Payload Redaction permission that enables a redaction feature for workflow payloads. This workflow-level permission gives Site Admins by default a new setting so that any payload or body shown in detailed logs, including the event payload, request body, and response from any workflow, is redacted. Custom roles will need to add the permission manually in Global Settings.

To enable roles with the permission

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner to access Global Settings.
  2. On the Global Settings menu, select User Management > Roles.

    The Roles screen appears.

  3. Click on the name of an existing role or create a new one, either by copying or select permissions.
  4. Go to the Integration roles.
  5. Search or locate to enable Integration Enable Payload Redaction.

  6. Revise the fields and permissions, as necessary. For more on creating and updating roles with permissions, see Creating and Editing Custom Roles.

To enable the redaction setting

  1. On the Integrations menu, select Connections.

    The Connections screen appears.

  2. Select a workflow, then go to the Details tab.
  3. Scroll and enable the setting, Enable Redacted Payload.

    The Confirm modal appears.

  4. Click the Ok button. The setting is now enabled for this workflow for any new calls or response to the defined trigger conditions. Any potentially sensitive information that could be passed through a request are now redacted in responses.
  5. Click the Save button to keep your changes.
  6. Click the Activate button.
    Note:

OneTrust does not store the event and action payloads at all in the database. When this setting is enabled, there will be no way to retrieve that data unless a user turns the setting off and reprocesses the message.

To test payload redaction

  1. Within the Integration Builder view of this now enabled workflow for payload redaction, click the Context Menu icon in the top left.
  2. Select Test Workflow.

    The Testing pane appears.

  3. Use any data to live test this connection with redacted payloads. Click the Test button to return a 200 OK status. The Response and Logs tabs will both show the payload as REDACTED.

  4. All other system related information can be viewed in the test preview and in detailed logs for active workflows used by integrated systems.
