Integrating with the ServiceNow Asset Discovery Wizard

You can create and configure an Integration-based connection that discovers and maps assets from your organization's ServiceNow instance to the OneTrust application.

To configure the workflow

  1. On the Integrations menu, click Gallery.

    The Galleryscreen appears.

  2. Search and locate the ServiceNow tile.

The ServiceNow Gallery Details screen appears.

  3. Click on the ServiceNow: Asset Discovery tile.

    The Configure Template screen appears.

  4. In the Name your new workflow section, enter a name and an email address that will receive error alerts.

  5. In the Give us a way to log in section, either select an existing credential or select Create New Credentials to configure credentials within the Wizard. Then, click the Save button.
    Note:

You can create a credential for ServiceNow with the Integrations module or you can manually add one here when configuring the Asset Discovery Wizard.

For more information on setting up credentials through Integrations, see Configuring Integration Credentials.

  6. Click the Test button to validate the credential authorization.
  7. In the Select the Managing Organization section, choose to which level the results will be populated and assigned.

  8. Click the Next button.

    The Configure Trigger screen appears.

  9. In the Schedule Action section, enter either Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly in the Frequency field. Customize the trigger settings, as necessary.

  10. Click the Next button.

    The Mapping screen appears.

  11. In the ServiceNow Table field, identify a table from which you want to sync assets. This will populate the appropriate ServiceNow Field(s) pending tested and validated credentials from the initial wizard screen.
    Note:

This wizard can scan any table in order to discover assets from ServiceNow. The ServiceNow application can only scan from the given "cmdb_ci_business_app" table.

    Tip:

The wizard only supports text attributes. Single select, multi select, and date attributes are not supported and will not appear as field options.

  12. Once the table is chosen, select from the available ServiceNow Field values to map against Asset Field(s) present in your OneTrust account. Click the Add icon to add and map additional fields.
  13. Click the Next button.

The Integration Summary screen will provide an overview of your configuration preferences.

  14. Click the Save button if you are satisfied with the configuration. You can click the Previous button to return to previous screens to edit, as necessary.

  15. Click the Activate button.

A confirmation modal will appear, then click the OK button. The Integration Summary screen will populate the Status and Last Updated details of the workflow.

  16. Once an asset is created in ServiceNow that aligns with your mapping criteria, an identical asset will be created in the Asset Inventory in the Data Mapping Automation module with the associated asset details.
