Associating Laws and Frameworks with Data Assets

After setting up a company profile and running the Data Discovery scanner, Athena will automatically attempt to associate laws and frameworks with the discovered Data Assets. No user intervention is required for this process to take place. This will help you quickly identify the applicable laws and frameworks for the Data Asset and design a Data Governance program. The descriptions of the associated laws or frameworks have been carefully vetted by the OneTrust Legal Team. In addition, users will have the ability to associate additional laws or frameworks manually from the Data Asset Details screen.

To View Laws and Frameworks Associated with Data Assets

  1. On the Data Catalog menu, select Data Dictionary.

    The Data Dictionary screen appears.

  2. Click the Data Source in the Data Dictionary list.

    The Data Asset Details screen appears.

  3. Select the Laws & Frameworks tab.
  4. Hover over the law or framework preview to view the entire description.

To Add Associated Laws and Frameworks to Data Assets

  1. On the Data Catalog menu, select Data Dictionary.

    The Data Dictionary screen appears.

  2. Click the Data Source in the Data Dictionary list.

    The Data Asset Details screen appears.

  3. Select the Laws & Frameworks tab.
  4. Click the Add New button.

  5. Select the applicable laws and frameworks and click Save.

To Remove Associated Laws and Frameworks from Data Assets

  1. On the Data Catalog menu, select Data Dictionary.

    The Data Dictionary screen appears.

  2. Click the Data Source in the Data Dictionary list.

    The Data Asset Details screen appears.

  3. Select the Laws & Frameworks tab.
  4. Click the Trash icon.

    The Remove Law or Framework modal appears.
