Interpretting Downloaded Consent Data
The consent data is presented in a completely granular manner in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. This data can be analyzed to accommodate a wide range of applications. Here we describe a basic application by calculating the opt-in, opt-out, and not given rates as percentages. Alternatively, you can paste the data from your .csv file into the attached template.
-
Open the downloaded spreadsheet file with Excel.
-
From the File menu, select and Save As. Save the file as a comma delimited file (.csv).
-
Open the .csv with your spreadsheet program.
-
Use the SUM command to get the column sums for Opt-in, Opt-out, and Not Given.
CODEV4 =SUM(L:L) W4 =SUM(P:P) X4 =SUM(O:O) -
Calculate the total number by taking the sum of of the consent receipts.
CODEU4 =SUM(V4,W4,X4) -
Calculate the percentage for each response.
CODEV5 =V4/U4 W5 =W4/U4 X5 =X4/U4 -
Highlight V5, W5, and X5 and right-click. Select Format Cells from the menu.
-
Change the Category to Percentage and select the number of decimal places.
-
