Implementing TCF Stacks on your Website
Stacks
In IAB TCF, the concept of Stacks was invented. Stacks are a way that purposes and features can be combined to present to the users to provide simplified consent without sacrificing granular information or choice. These Stacks are predefined in the IAB TCF policy. For a complete list of IAB TCF Stacks, see IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework Policies.
Example: Stack 3 "Personalized Ads" combines Purposes 2, 3 and 4. This Stack is presented to the site visitor. When using a stack, you still must give the user the option to opt-in or opt-out per granular purpose. There is a toggle at the stack level that controls all of the purposes in the stack, as well as a toggle at each purpose level within the stack. You cannot select a stack that duplicates the purposes within this stack.
To Add a Stack to a Template
Group IAB Purposes Screen
-
Only the Purposes and Special Features requiring Consent or allowing for the removal of Legitimate Interest are displayed.
-
The Purposes and Special Features appear in the left panel. You can select a Purpose or groups of Purposes to display the Stacks which contain those Purposes.
-
The right panel shows the Stacks which contain the selected Purposes and Special Features. You can choose to hide the Stacks which cannot be selected due to overlapping Purposes and Special Features using the Hide disabled stack button.
-
You can also select Stacks directly and the Purposes and Special Features contained within them will be marked in the left panel.
-
When you are done, click the Save button. The Stacks will now be displayed in your Preference Center. Purposes not contained in stacks will be displayed separately.
