Configuring Default Templates and Geolocation Rule Groups by Organization
This functionality is currently only available upon request. Contact OneTrust support to have this feature enabled in your account.
In Cookie Consent, you can configure templates and geolocation rule groups as Universal Default or Organization Default. Universal and organization defaults enable you to customize configurations across different websites, brands, and subsidiaries to meet each of your company's specific use-cases.
What are Universal and Organization Defaults?
A universal default replaces the current default option for rule groups and templates. Once configured, universal defaults are available and shareable across all organization levels, but can only be set from the root-organization (i.e., the highest parent organization in your organization hierarchy).
An organization default can be defined by any sub-organization level below the root organization. Organizational defaults are shared downward from a parent organization to child organizations within an organization tree. If a child organization configures their own organization default, this will override the parent organization's configuration.
Organizations with both a universal and organization default enabled will default to the organization-level configuration.
Default templates are automatically assigned to new geolocation rule groups. Default rule groups are automatically assigned to new domains.

To set a universal default template
The universal default template will be viewable for all users across all organization levels in your account. Any time a new geolocation rule is created and no organization default template exists for the user’s organization, this template will be selected by default.
Universal default templates can only be configured at the root-organization level.
To set an organization default template
The organization default template will apply to your organization and any sub-organizations unless a different organization default is assigned by a user in a lower sub-organization. Any time a new geolocation rule is created, the organization default template associated with the user’s organization will be selected by default.
Organization default temples can only be configured at a sub-organization level and will not apply to the root organization.
To set a universal default geolocation rule group
The universal default rule group will be viewable for all users across all organization levels in your account. When a new domain is added, and no Organization Default Rule Group exists for the user’s organization, this consent policy will be automatically assigned to the domain.
Universal default rule groups can only be configured at the root-organization level.
To set an organization default rule group
The organization default rule group will apply to your organization level and any sub-organizations unless a different Organization Default Rule Group is assigned by a user in a lower sub-organization. When a new domain is added by a user in your organization, the Organization Default Rule Group associated with the user’s organization will be automatically assigned as the consent policy for that domain.
Organization default rule groups can only be configured at a sub-organization level and will not apply to the root organization.
