FAQ

Why is this upgrade happening?

This upgrade enables the next generation of AI Governance capabilities, including improved permission granularity, expanded inventory coverage, new agent‑related governance features, and a more unified experience through the Inventory Manager. It also enables customers to take advantage of preview and upcoming agent governance, policy enforcement, and observability capabilities.

Do I need to do anything as the customer?

No action is required. The upgrade is fully handled by OneTrust and will not interrupt or alter any of your existing configurations.

Will there be downtime or impact on other solutions in my environment?

No downtime is expected. The upgrade does not impact any other OneTrust solutions, modules, or workflows. All existing functionality will continue to operate as it does today.

Does the upgrade cost me anything?

No. This upgrade is provided at no additional cost to customers. It is part of the ongoing enhancements to the AI Governance platform and does not require any changes to your subscription or commercial terms.

Does this upgrade involve moving customer data across regions?

No. Data location and residency are unchanged. The upgrade transitions your environment to enhanced AI Governance services without modifying or relocating your data.

What will change for customers?

There is no impact on any other OneTrust solutions. Existing workflows, configurations, and roles should continue to operate as they do today.

The upgrade will enable several improvements:

  • Simplified user interface and navigation to manage AI Governance inventory through Inventory Manager.

  • New AI Governance API endpoints supporting expanded capabilities. For more information, see AI Governance APIs.

  • Permission standardization + finer‑grained control for customers who create new custom roles. These new permissions have been defined for AI System, Model, Dataset, and Agent inventory types. For more information, see Permissions Release Notes: AI Governance.

  • Ability to participate in policy enforcement and runtime monitoring preview programs (contact your Customer Service Manager for more information).

Will this upgrade affect my existing configuration or setup?

No, existing configuration and setup will remain unchanged. This includes your inventory structure, custom attributes, workflows, assessments, role assignments, permissions, integrations, and feature enablement settings. The upgrade updates the underlying AI Governance Services architecture only.

Will this upgrade affect access to upcoming features?

Yes, this upgrade is required to enable new AI Governance capabilities, including the new AI Agent inventory type, AI policies, and guardrail enforcement. Availability will depend on feature toggle enablement (private vs. public preview).

Will existing seeded and custom roles still work?

Yes. All existing seeded roles and custom roles created by customers continue to apply exactly as before. There will be no change in the scope of permissions assigned to existing roles.

What changes for new custom roles?

After the upgrade, any newly created custom roles can take advantage of new granular permissions. These will allow for more fine‑grained access control across AI Governance components. Documentation will be provided in release notes and product docs.

Do customers need to update their API calls?

Existing public API endpoints will continue to work, and no changes are required for existing integrations. After the upgrade, customers should use the new AI Governance API endpoints for any new development or updates to existing integrations, as these endpoints will receive new enhancements going forward. For more information, see AI Governance APIs.

We will continue to support the existing endpoints. If a formal deprecation timeline is introduced in the future, customers will receive clear advance communication, a long transition window, and detailed upgrade guidance. No action is required today, and no sunset date has been defined.

How should customers raise issues they experience with the upgrade?

Customers should submit tickets through the normal support channels. Upgrade‑related issues will be monitored closely and prioritized for rapid response.

What is the rollback plan should anything unforeseen happen?

OneTrust Support and R&D Teams will handle any required remediation through our established triage and escalation process.

How can customers interested in policy enforcement or runtime monitoring learn more about the preview program?
