Admin-Driven Versus Respondent-Driven Primary Record Method in Templates
You can select whether the Primary Record of an assessment should be determined by the Admin or Respondent when the assessment is completed.
To select Admin-Driven or Respondent-Driven
Using the Respondent-Driven Primary Record Method
-
For Respondent-Driven assessments, the respondent will determine the primary record assigned to the assessment by answering the question configured as the primary record question.
-
Assessment templates should be Respondent-Driven when the assessment is listed in the Self-Service Portal for business users to launch and complete themselves, or in any case that the respondent is expected to designate the primary record from a question during assessment completion.
-
The Respondent-Driven option is used in most cases, as the setting ensures the primary record of the assessment is populated or updated based on the response to the primary record question.
Using an Admin-Driven Primary Record Method
-
In an Admin-Driven assessment, the primary record is determined by the assessment creator at the time of launching the assessment on the Launch Assessment screen.
-
Assessments should be set to Admin-Driven whenever the admin or creator of the assessment wants to choose the primary record and not allow it to be updated by the respondent.
-
Assessments should be set to Admin-Driven if they want to assign the primary record and manage risk inheritance on vendors. If the primary record is not populated, risks flagged in the assessment do not inherit to a primary record.
Choosing a Primary Record Method for Self-Service Portal assessments
Use Respondent-Driven when the respondent should select or create the record that the assessment is about. Use Admin-Driven when an administrator or assessment creator should select and control the primary record before launch.
On an Admin-Driven assessment, selecting a vendor or engagement after launch links that record to the assessment but does not assign it as the primary record. To have the response determine the primary record, configure the template as Respondent-Driven. For more information, see Configuring Assessment Template Settings.
