Global/Local Inventory Relationships

The feature allows you to set up inventory records as master records and then create local versions (linked copies) of that master record. This creates a relationship between the master process and the local version to help with organization, maintenance and easy comparison to identify variation that may exist across all local versions of a central process.

To setup a master record

  1. On the IT & Security Risk Management menu, select the type of inventory record you want to create.

    The inventory list screen appears.

  2. Click the Context Menu icon of the name you wish to make the master record.
  3. On the Context menu, select Set Up As Master.
The Create Master Record modal appears.

  4. Click the Create button.

To create local versions

  1. Go to the Inventory Details of the Master Record.
  2. Select the Local Versions tab.
  3. Click the Add Local Versions button.

The Create Local Version modal appears.

  4. Complete the fields. For more information see Create Local Version Screen Reference
    Note:

Local versions must have either a different name or different managing organization than the master record.

  5. Click the Copy button.
Note:

You cannot delete a master record while local versions are still attached. You can archive master records and change master record statuses. Master record status will not impact the status of the local versions. To archive all versions, you can archive the records individually or change the inventory status in bulk.

For more information, see Editing an Inventory Record .
