Localization Editor

The Localization Editor allows you to customize the terminology that appears in the OneTrust Platform for all of OneTrust's default languages. Changes made in the Localization Editor appear across the platform. In addition, the Localization Editor can be used to manage translations for a standard set of languages enabled for all public-facing tools by exporting translations from the Localization editor screen and importing the changes using the Update Localization import template.

The platform refers to any content you would see while navigating through products and their out of the box content. It does not include custom attributes, custom templates, or other custom fields that have been added. OneTrust does not support automatic translations of custom content. By using the Localization editor, users are able to define their own translations for all custom content added to the application.

To import translations values for custom keys across accounts

You can migrate the translation values that you have for custom keys in a lower account to your production account using the Update localization import template. Since these are custom keys, they are unique to each account and do not share the same key ID between the accounts. In order to import the translation values, you must first make sure that the keys themselves exist in both accounts. If the keys exist in both accounts, then you can complete the following procedure.

Step 1: Export the keys in both the source and destination accounts

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner to access Global Settings.
  2. On the Global Settings menu, select Language > Localization editor.

    The Localization editor screen appears.

  3. Click the Context Menu icon and select Export.

    The Localization export modal appears.

  4. In the Export Options field, select a set of keys to export. Then click the Export button. A task is initiated for the export.
  5. Click the Notifications icon in the upper right-hand corner.

    The Notifications popover appears.

  6. Click the link for the Localization Export file you want to download. The file downloads to your local system.
  7. Repeat steps 1 - 5 in the other account. You should now have two Localization Export files downloaded to your local system.

Step 2: Download the Update Localization import template

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner to access Global Settings.
  2. On the Global Settings menu, select Data import > Import templates. The Import templates screen appears.

  3. Download the Update localization import template.

Step 3: Locate the corresponding keys and add them to the import template

  1. Open the Source Account Localization Export file, the Destination Account Localization Export file, and the Update localization import template.
  2. Using the Localization Export files, locate the custom keys that correspond between the source and destination accounts. You can do this by finding the matching Key Label column values within each file.
  3. Using the Destination Account Export file, copy the Key column values for the custom keys and paste them in the Update localization import template.
