Insights Data Governance Dashboard

The Overview tab allows you to view the number terms, tags, and data sources applied to your data assets.

The following metrics are available on the Overview tab:

Total data assets

Number of physical or technical systems or objects that store/process data.

Terms

Number of words or phrases used to define data and determine what the data means to the business.

Glossary

Number of glossaries present in the data dictionary.

Tags

Number of tags present in the data dictionary.

System types

Number of system types present in the data dictionary.

Data sources

Number of data sources present in the data dictionary.

Terms by data assets

Number of data assets terms are applied to applied by term.

Hover over each bar in the chart to view the exact number of data assets per term. In addition, you can click each term to display only data for that particular term. Click the term once more to return to the original view.

Tags by data assets

Number of data assets tags are applied to applied by tag.

Number of data sources for data assets present in the data dictionary.

List of data assets

Provides detailed information for each data asset within the data dictionary.

Hover over each row to view a compact summary of the data asset. In addition, you can click a row to display only data for that particular data asset. Click the row once more to return to the original view.

The File Access tab displays attached files according to the System, Source, Term, Tag, Content type, Access, File size range, File owner, and Last modified date.

The following metrics are available on the File Access tab:

Content type of the attached files.

Access

Access level of the attached files.

Select specific access levels to adjust the data that displays in the dashboard tiles:

• Open Access: Files that are available to everyone

• Private: File that is available only to the user who created it

• Shared External: File that is shared with at least one user outside your domain

• Shared Internal: File that is shared with at least one user inside your domain

File size range

File size range for the displayed files.

Select specific file size ranges to adjust the data that displays in the dashboard tiles.

File owner

Files owned by a specific file owner.

Select specific file owners to adjust the data that displays in the dashboard tiles.

Last modified Date

Date range for the files to be displayed.

Drag the slider to adjust the time period of the data that displays in the dashboard tiles.

Files

Number of files present in the data catalog.

Data sources with files

Number of data sources associated with files.

Total terms across files

Number of terms applied to files.

Files in Open access

Number of files where access is open to all users.

Files shared externally

Number of files shared externally.

Content types

Number of file types present in the data catalog.

File owners

Number of file owners in the data catalog.

Terms identified in files

Number of terms applied to files by term.

Number of files by access type.

Hover over each segment in the chart to view the exact count for a given term type. In addition, you can click each segment to display only data for that particular term type. Click the segment once more to return to the original view.

File owners

Number of files owned by each file owner.

Hover over each bar in the chart to view the exact number of files per file owner. In addition, you can click each file owner to display only data for that particular file owner Click the data source once more to return to the original view.

List of files

Provides detailed information on files found within Data Catalog as well as the access level and owner of the file.

The File Retention tab provides information on the age of the file. This tab is helpful for customers to address common use cases, such as:

• Files that are too old and ones that do or do not contain PII which can be deleted. This varies depending on the organization's legal team defined process.

• For files that are not encrypted, open access files can de deleted or they must be encryped on the backend.

• Open Access: Files that are available to everyone

• Private: File that is available only to the user who created it

• Shared External: File that is shared with at least one user outside your domain

• Shared Internal: File that is shared with at least one user inside your domain

File size range

File size range for the displayed files.

Select specific file size ranges to adjust the data that displays in the dashboard tiles.

File owner

Files owned by a specific file owner.

Select specific file owners to adjust the data that displays in the dashboard tiles.

Last modified Date

Date range for the files to be displayed.

Drag the slider to adjust the time period of the data that displays in the dashboard tiles.

Number of files present in the data catalog.

Data sources with files

Number of data sources associated with files.

Total terms across files

Number of terms applied to files.

Total size of files

Size of all uploaded files.

Files in last 3 months

Files uploaded in the last 3 months.

Content types

Number of file types present in the data catalog.

Distribution of the file size for attached files.

Files age distribution

Age of files uploaded.

Hover over each bar in the chart to view the age of the uploaded files. In addition, you can click each age interval to display only data for that particular age interval. Click the age interval once more to return to the original view.

List of files

Provides detailed information on files found within Data Catalog as well as the access level and owner of the file.

The Column Insights tab displays information around data that has been scanned from structured data sources.

Number of databases in the data catalog.

Number of tables available in the data catalog.

Number of columns in the data catalog.

Total records

Number of total records in the data catalog.

The Business Glossary tab provides information on the glossary terms that are created or in use by your organization.

Status of the terms in the glossary.

Available statuses:

• Proposed: A potential new term has been identified but still requires further refinement before review.

• Under Review: A term has a definition but must be reviewed by the appropriate stakeholders before it is accepted within the organization.

• Approved: A term has been reviewed by the appropriate stakeholders and is approved for use within the Data Catalog.

• Archived: A previously approved term is no longer in active use and has been archived.
