Integrating Privacy Notices with Shopify

The first time you publish a privacy notice, an integration code snippet will be generated that allows you to implement the notice across your sites. Shopify's privacy notice configuration uses plain HTML code. Shopify does not accept JavaScript code.

Attention:

When the OneTrust privacy notice code is placed in the Shopify policy configuration space, it sanitizes JS and the code appears as shown below:

To integrate a privacy notice with Shopify

  1. On the Privacy Notice Management menu, select Privacy Notices. The Privacy Notices screen appears.
    Note:

If you own the Policy Management module, the menu will be named Policy.

  2. Select the privacy notice you want to integrate. The Privacy Notice Details screen appears.

  3. Navigate to the Integration tab. The SDK appears to integrate the privacy notice.

  4. Click the Copy button for the code snippet for your privacy notice.
    Note:

The Published Notice SDK should be copied when publishing to a live site. The Draft Notice SDK should be copied when testing a notice in a staging environment.

  5. Navigate to the Shopify privacy notice configuration space and paste the code.
  6. Remove the JS script portion of the code by using the cut function. Only the div id should remain.

  7. Paste the JS script portion of the code to the head section under the theme liquid layout section.

  8. Click the Save button.
  9. Click the Preview button to preview your changes. The privacy notice should be visible.
