Integrating with Tableau

You can create a visualization in Tableau with OneTrust, leveraging the Tableau Extract API 2.0. This integration extracts an asset list from a OneTrust module and writes data elements into a visualization of your choosing.

Below is an overview of the initial steps for integrating Tableau. Contact OneTrust Support via the Get Help page, or reach out to your implementation consultant for further assistance.

Overview

  1. This integration utilizes a Python script for extraction. You will first need to download Python 3.7 at: https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-370/



  2. Create a new path for the integration by editing the Environment Variables in the Control Panel.



  3. Download the Extract API for Python at: https://help.tableau.com/current/api/extract_api/en-us/Extract/extract_api_installing.htm



  4. Extract the API package into the new directory.



  5. Enter a series of commands to test Python and ensure it is installed correctly. You will need to also install the Requests Module to handle API requests in Python.



  6. Write a Tableau integration script for your visualization and desired OneTrust product offering.
