Testing Data Prior to Scanning

You can test the efficacy of the OneTrust classification service with custom text and file uploads to see how well the chosen classification profile identifies, evaluates, and labels discovered data elements against system or custom classifiers. This enables admins to understand how the application handles data using Athena AI, providing confidence scores, and classifying elements to produce accurate discovery results against personally identifiable information (PII) labels.

To test data with custom text - create new test data

  1. On the Data Discovery menu, select Setup > Classifiers. The Classifiers screen appears.

  2. Click the Classify Now button. The Classify Now pane appears.

  3. Ensure Custom text is enabled.
  4. Click the Create new test data option.

  5. Provide a test name and test data in the fields, then select an existing Classification Profile.
    Note:

The Test Data field supports up to 500 characters.

  6. Once you have input content in these fields, you can opt to save this test data for future uses by clicking the Save test data button.
  7. Click the Classify button. Upon receiving Status: Success, the Classification tab will populate the applied classifiers labels against the test data.

  8. Click the Expand button to open the Test Classifier modal and review what likelihood results were applied and data samples were retrieved for the test data in the Classification tab.

To test data with custom text - saved data

  1. On the Data Discovery menu, select Setup > Classifiers. The Classifiers screen appears.

  2. Click the Classify Now button. The Classify Now pane appears.

  3. Ensure Custom text is enabled.
  4. Click the Use saved test data option. If you have saved previous test data, the provided name will be available for selection. Upon selection, the given test data will populate in the Test Data field and the used classification profile will be applied.

  5. Click the Classify button. Upon receiving Status: Success, the Classification tab will populate the applied classifiers labels against the test data.

To download sample template of structured data

Prior to uploading files, you can download a .csv file template for uploading structured datasets used with the Classify Now feature. This feature grants users an additional opportunity to make edits to prior to testing in the Classify Now pane and produce desired data sample sets against their chosen Classification Profile.

  1. On the Data Discovery menu, select Setup > Classifiers. The Classifiers screen appears.

  2. Click the Classify Now button. The Classify Now pane appears.

  3. Click Download Template. A local file will be downloaded in the format: ExampleStructured.csv

To test data with file upload

  1. On the Data Discovery menu, select Setup > Classifiers. The Classifiers screen appears.

  2. Click the Classify Now button. The Classify Now pane appears.

  3. Ensure File upload is enabled.
  4. Search to use an existing file or upload a new file.
    Note:

The .csv file can be a maximum of 15 columns and 102 rows. Row 1 has Column Name, Row 2 has Data Type (Text, Number, DateTime or left blank), and Row 3 - Row 102 contain data samples.

  5. Select a configured classification profile from the available options.
  6. Click the Classify button. Upon receiving Status: Success, the Classification tab will populate the applied classifiers labels against the test data supplied in the uploaded file.

  7. Click the Expand button to open the Test Classifier modal and review what confidence scores and data samples were retrieved for the test data in the Classification tab. Use the Scan Results arrows to navigate between the given classifiers and the tested data samples.
