Breaking Down the Classifier Hierarchy

Classification starts with a general Profile that captures the necessity for a well-maintained data discovery process. This might look like a jurisdiction or region with specific privacy requirements (e.g. US consumer market). Classifier is the first level where OneTrust customers can begin scaffolding a classification setup that best benefits their organization's discovery needs.

A Classifier can be identified as a theme of the profile (e.g. credit cards used in US market). Nested within this group you can create multiple sub-classifiers that target a specific element of that theme (e.g. AMEX, Visa, Discover).

A Sub-Classifier can be specifically configured with custom Confidence Score and a variety of Discovery Patterns to identify unique characteristics of data, (e.g. mask, regular expression, digital check). Some discovery patterns have input fields while others may offer selection field options.
