The Formula Builder is available to users who want to build a custom digital check to validate a desired data pattern. There are myriad uses for digital checks, and a primary example is a country's personal or national identification number. Because a digital check is a type of redundancy measure to help reduce algorithm errors, we can the Formula Builder to test numeric sequences to give classification service a 100% confidence score.
- Example Formula
-
In this example, we're using Denmark's Personal Identification Number (digital check sequence below) to illustrate how you can use the Formula Builder as part of your classification setup and discovery review.
4x1 + 3x2 + 2x3 + 7x4 + 6x5 + 5x6 + 4x7 + 3x8 + 2x9 + x10 ≡ 0 (mod 11)
- Create a classifier label and select Digital Check as the discovery pattern.
- Select Custom Digital Check from the field options, then click the Formula Builder button. The Formula Builder modal appears.
- Use the various function and equation symbol options to build a formula that helps test and validate your custom digital checks. You can enter or delete text as you need from the formula field.
-
For our Danish example, we'd start with the first DIGIT_AT, which will be multiplied by 1 (e.g. 4x1)
-
The next DIGIT-AT would be multiplied by 3 and so on, (e.g 3x2)
-
When the full sequence is complete, we would add the mod(%) value at 11 and then equal it all to 0.
DIGIT_AT (ATTRIBUTE, 1) * 4 * DIGIT_AT (ATTRIBUTE, 2) * 3%11==0
- Click the Test Validation to test the currently displayed formula. The populated status will reflect if it aligns with the target pattern.
- Click Clear Formula to zero out the formula field.
- Click the Save button to retain your formula configuration.
