Using Collection Points and Available Types

Collection Points are the points of interaction where consent is initially gathered or recorded. Collection Points can take many forms but are usually some interface that a data subject directly interacts with, such as a form on a web page. However, Collection Points can be any place where an action is taken that signifies the giving of consent.

You can set up Collection Points to reflect digital interactions, such as web forms, mobile apps, and website banners. You can also set up Collection Points to interface with systems where your organization might collect and store consent gathered through analog means, such as phone conversations, physical mail, or in-person interactions.

Collection Points Types



You can create Collection Points based on the methods by which you plan on gathering and recording a data subject's consent. The following types of Collection Points can be created within the application.

Collection Point Type

Description

Use the OneTrust Web Form Builder

OneTrust Embedded Web Form

Select this Collection Point type if you want to build your own web form within the application and embed the web form on your website to automatically send consent data to OneTrust. For more information, see Creating OneTrust Embedded Web Form Collection Points.

OneTrust Hosted Web Form

Select this Collection Point type if you want to build your own web form within the application and have this web form hosted by OneTrust. For more information, see Creating OneTrust Hosted Web Form Collection Points.

Integrate with Existing Data Sources

External Web Form Integration

Select this Collection Point type if you have an existing web form hosted on an external website for which you want to record consent. Creating a Collection Point using the External Web Form type allows you to map field attributes for an existing web form to the Purposes, Purpose Preferences, and Data Elements defined on the Collection Point. Custom API

Select this Collection Point type to record consent using OneTrust APIs. For more information, see Creating Custom API Collection Points.

Import Offline Data

Spreadsheet Import

Select this Collection Point type to upload consent from a bulk import process or external application.

Consent Receipt Streaming

Select this Collection Point type to upload consent from an offline process for imports larger than 50,000 records. For more information, see Using the Stream Consent Receipts Import Template.

Click the Go to Templates button at the bottom of the Create New Collection Point screen to navigate to the Templates screen in the Cookie Consent module.
