Privacy Notice Management Advanced Implementation

Overview

Additional features exist within the Privacy Notice Management solution that could enhance the user experience and help achieve other requirements that could be important to your overall deployment of the solution.

Integrating Privacy Notices with Angular Applications

Why

Integrating privacy notices within Angular applications ensures that notice content is dynamically rendered within single-page applications (SPAs), maintaining a seamless user experience while ensuring up-to-date disclosures are displayed.

What

Angular applications operate as single-page applications, meaning content is dynamically updated without reloading the page. As a result, standard integration approaches (e.g., directly embedding SDK snippets in static HTML) are not sufficient.

Instead, privacy notices must be integrated by:

  • Embedding a container element within the Angular component template

  • Dynamically loading the OneTrust SDK script within the component lifecycle

  • Explicitly invoking the OneTrust Notice API to render notices

  • Cleaning up scripts and styles when components are destroyed

This approach ensures proper initialization, rendering, and teardown of privacy notices within Angular environments.

Who

Privacy / Legal Teams

Own and approve privacy notice content

Project Managers (Tool Owners)

Define integration approach and coordinate implementation

Frontend Developers (Angular)

Implement SDK integration within Angular components

QA Teams

Validate rendering, updates, and lifecycle behavior within the application

How

Add container to template

Copy the provided <div> container and include it in the Angular component HTML where the notice should render

Load SDK dynamically

In the component TypeScript file, programmatically inject the OneTrust SDK script into the document

Initialize and render notices

Use the OneTrust Notice API to initialize and load the notice once the script is ready

Handle component lifecycle

Ensure proper cleanup by removing scripts and unloading styles when the component is destroyed

Validate behavior

Confirm correct rendering, updates, and no duplication of scripts during navigation

Best Practices

  • Always load and initialize the SDK within the component lifecycle to prevent duplicate executions

  • Ensure proper cleanup of scripts and styles to avoid UI inconsistencies

  • Validate behavior across navigation events within the SPA

  • Use non-production environments to test integration before deployment

  • Coordinate closely with frontend teams to align with application architecture

Integrating Privacy Notices with UCPM

Why

Privacy Notices communicate how personal data is collected, used, and processed, and are a foundational requirement for transparency under global privacy regulations. Ensuring that consent is tied to the correct version of a Privacy Notice is critical for auditability, regulatory compliance, and downstream reporting.

When Privacy Notices are managed independently of consent collection, organizations may face challenges demonstrating which notice version was presented to a data subject at the time consent was provided. Aligning Privacy Notices with consent configuration allows organizations to establish a clear, verifiable relationship between consent decisions and the disclosures in effect at the time of collection.

What

Privacy Notices define the disclosures presented to data subjects regarding data processing activities. When managed within the OneTrust platform, Privacy Notices can be versioned, maintained centrally, and associated with consent configuration components.

Organizations that leverage the Privacy Notice Management capability can link Privacy Notices directly to:

  • Collection Points, and

  • Purposes defined within Universal Consent & Preference Management (UCPM)

Once a Privacy Notice is created and published, it can be associated with relevant consent touchpoints to ensure accurate tracking of notice versioning.

When a data subject submits consent for a purpose that is linked to a Privacy Notice:

  • The resulting Consent Receipt records the specific version of the Privacy Notice in effect at the time of consent.

  • This information becomes available for audit.

Who

Define notice content, approval workflows, and publication requirements

OneTrust Administrators

Configure Privacy Notices and link them to Collection Points and Purposes

Legal Stakeholders

Review disclosures and version changes

Integration / Reporting Teams

Consume notice version data from Consent Receipts for audits

QA / Validation Teams

Validate correct notice linkage and version capture during consent submission

How

  1. Create and publish Privacy Notices within the platform.

  2. Version Privacy Notices as disclosures evolve.

  3. Link published notices to relevant Collection Points and/or Purposes in UCPM.

  4. Validate that consent submissions correctly reference the intended notice.

  5. Confirm that Collection Points include the applicable Privacy Notice version.

Best Practices

  • Maintain Privacy Notices in the Privacy Notice Management solution to ensure consistency and version control.

  • Link Privacy Notices to Purposes and Collection Points

  • Validate notice version capture during testing and prior to production release.
