Building and Editing Insights Dashboards

Once you have created a custom dashboard, you can begin building out visualizations, known as dashboard tiles, that highlight the key metrics for your organization. By building custom dashboards, you can monitor your business and see all of your most important metrics at a glance. If you created a dashboard from scratch, the dashboard will be blank. If you created a dashboard using a copy of an existing dashboard, all content from the copied dashboard will appear.

To build a custom dashboard

  1. On the Reports menu, select Dashboards.

    The Dashboards screen appears.

  2. Click the link in the Name column for the custom dashboard you want to build.
  3. Click the Edit button.
The Filters, Visualizations, and Data panes appear.

  4. Use the Filters, Visualizations, and Data panes to configure the tiles to include on the dashboard. For more information, see To configure dashboard tiles.
  5. Click the Save button.

To customize visualization colors

Visualizations can be customized to display different colors for different text, bars, and charts. This customization can help you navigate different risk levels, organizational management, or user assignment.

Note:

The available customization options will vary depending on the type of visual. The following procedure uses the bar chart visualization type as an example.

  1. On the Reports menu, select Dashboards.

    The Dashboards screen appears.

  2. Click the link in the Name column for the custom dashboard you want to customize.
  3. Click the Context Menu icon and select Edit Dashboard.
The Filters, Visualizations, and Data panes appear.

  4. Select the visualization on your dashboard that you want to customize.
  5. On the Visualizations pane, click the Format your visual icon to customize the appearance of the visualization. The Visual and General tabs appear with the available customization options that are unique to the type of visualization you selected.
    Note:

For this example, we selected a bar chart visualization, so the images below are unique to that visualization type.

  6. On the Visual tab, modify the necessary settings to customize the visualization's color. The name of the section that controls the visualization's color will vary, such as the Colors section for treemaps, the Slices section for pie and doughnut charts, the Data Colors section for radar charts, and so on.

For the bar chart visualization example, expand the Bars section. In the Apply settings to > Series field, select the data point for which you want the customization to apply. Then use the Color and Transparency fields to customize the color for that data point. The color is then updated within the visualization.

  7. Click the Save button.
